BREAST FEEDING

The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends exclusive breastfeeding for up to 6 months of age, it is good to remember that whether or not to breastfeed your child is a personal choice. Giving in to pressure from the medical profession or relatives would only be counter productive, as the newborn baby feels the mother's emotions. Moreover, with the return to work, breastfeeding requires some organization. Even if solutions exist, the practicality of the bottle is tempting. Not to mention the health reasons that do not allow breastfeeding.

The World Breastfeeding Week is a time to remember that breast milk is the ideal food for babies. Its composition (content of trace elements, vitamins, good fats, etc.) is perfectly suited to the newborn. It is easy to digest and well assimilated, it protects baby against ear infections, gastrointestinal infections, overweight and it helps in the prevention against allergies. Not to forget that It is also less expensive than infant formulas etc..

Apart from these advantages, there are as well a lot of subjects we are not taught earlier. enough. It's good to know that breastfeeding is a journey that can be a smooth for some and rough for others.

Let's focus a bit on the rough path...

Have you ever heard of nipple fissures or cracked nipples?

Nipple fissures are irritated, cracked, or sore nipples. They are a common occurrence among women who are breastfeeding.

Nipple crack/fissure is usually caused by incorrect positioning while nursing, or difficulties with suction or latching on. They can also be caused by engorgement of the breasts.

In order to avoid nipple fissure, below is an image with demonstrations on breast feeding position that can be very useful.
